Netweaver 2004s EP: Portal keeps dropping?

We have rather recently installed NW04s EP and are having some real issues with it.

Main issue being, after we get the portal up and running, after about 10 mins it drops completely.

Initially (after SPS06 install) the problem was that the Portal would run then drop (giving the error message "Application Stopped" on the portal URL) and then 10 mins later would start back up again. I've since updated the Kernel to Patch 58 and now when it drops, it doesn't come back up; as well now I don't get the J2EE error messages ("Application Stopped" etc) like before, instead I just get "Page not found." I can start it again with stopping sap and restarting it, but it just repeats the cycle.

I don't get any errors during SAP start up or shutdown (as long as it's before the Portal has crashed). If the Portal has crashed when I stop SAP I will see:

Error: java.io.FileNotFoundException: JdbcCon.log (Permission denied)

J2EE Database is not available via test

See logfile JdbcCon.log

If I go to the JdbcCon.log I'll see this:

..............................

Error: Couldn't connect to DB

java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01034: ORACLE not available

ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist

SVR4 Error: 2: No such file or directory

..............................

or sometimes this

..............................

OK: connected to EPD on jdbc/pool/EPD

OK: disconnected

..............................

Either way the result is the same: no portal.

Installation of NW2004s EP went fine, but we did have quite a bit of trouble installing SPS06 after the install. SPS06 install failed a number of times and had to restarted before it completed installing all of it's components. I'm wondering if this might have something to do with it (although in the end it looked like all SPS06 components were installed successfully all are showing the correct number).

Just wondering if anyone might have some idea of what might be causing this, or how better to track down what might be causing it? I've been though numerous log files on the system, and there are errors, but I've not been able match them to any solutions on OSS or Google.

Please help.

Thanks.
