Transport of catalog schema and views and other settings?

Hello

We're on SRM 4.0 with SRM Server 5.0 SP08 and CCM 2.0 with SP03.

We built a catalog schema using CSV 2.0 and uploaded it into CCM once into a vendor catalog and once into the master catalog. We use the vendor catalog as a dummy. It serves as container for our exported R/3 material masters and is then mapped to our master catalog.

In the master catalog we've customized several characteristics to be invisible, others additionally to be relevant for searching (TREX) and/or some to be sortable.

We've also changed the display order of most characteristics in list and details view.

We've also changed some OCI Mappings.

We've also created some catalog views.

We know that it is possible to export the catalog schema. But this does only contain the characteristics and the schema... ALL OTHER SETTINGS / CHANGES are not part of this export!

Therefore after uploading it into another catalog on another system (dev -> qual -> prod) you have to redo all additional settings you did in DEV system again and again.

Isn't there a working and proper solution to transport some table contents from DEV -> QUAL -> PROD?!? AFAIK all settings are stored in some tables on the CCM host (web application server)... a list of all relevant tables and contents to be transported would be great!

Someone out there already did the trick? Or how do you solved it? Or do other just don't care about it?

Thanks for any hints (once again)... 😉

Kind regards,

Renaud

    Hi Renaud,

don't no of any method of transporting the schema but if you create the schema in XML format you are able to make all the changes to characteristics, visibilitym, search, display options, OCI linkages etc. This way you don't have to do the manually authoring.

      Hi Dinesh

Thanks a lot for your example file! Will take some time to adopt it to our needs and to build some program logic in R/3 constructing and sending it to our XI.

    Hi Renaud,

there's an Excel-Macro called "SAP-CAT-Assistant" we use to generate schemas as well as uploading content. All your mentioned issues could be done very easily and with one click this vba-macro generates a SAP-CAT XML-file you can upload to the systems you specified. And it really saves us a lot of time than generating everything manually.

We got this tool from our SAP-Consultans supporting us in our CCM project, so it's a consulting solution and I'm not able to upload it here. Therefore please contact your SAP partners. I could imagine, they can help you.

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards

    Lars

    • As Renaud, I am also interested in knowing whether it's possible to <b>transport</b> catalog views. In addition, if anyone has <b>loaded</b> views programmatically (instead of manual creation in Web UI), it'll be great to know how. I have a requirement to create 1500 of those...)

      Cheers,
