UM change from SAP System to dataSourceConfiguration_database_only.xml

Hi ,

I have dataSourceConfiguration_r3_rw.xml as the UME config file, i want to create users in Portal, so want to change it to "dataSourceConfiguration_database_only.xml" .

If i try creating users in Portal with the "dataSourceConfiguration_r3_rw.xml" , it gives an error "could not create user" . I have given the communication role to the SAPJSF user id, but the error persists.

Can any one tell me

1) Should i use dataSourceConfiguration_database_only.xml if i want to create users in Portal only. If so, how do i change it from existing one to this file

2)If with the dataSourceConfiguration_r3_rw.xml , i can create users in portal , how do i go about it.

Whats the benfit of using dataSourceConfiguration_r3_rw.xml instead of the Database only.

hi Newbie

changning that setting is dangerous, just keep that in mind...and know what you're doing.

1. in the portal go to System administration -> system configuration -> UM Administration -> under datasources you can change that setting.

2. A benefit could be that you use central user administration in your R/3 system, so you don't want to create users two times.

Are there any constraints on the users to be created ? like guest and adminiostrators in portal ?

what do you mean with contraints? When you change the data source? If yes, check out this help page which lists all constraints:
