Explicitly granting read permissions in java.policy

Version: 1, Note Language: EN, Released on: 30.10.2003

Symptom

Graphical components of the applet are not rendered correctly. Apart from that, exceptions are thrown which are shown by the Java console.

Other terms

campaign automation, process model, applet

Reason and Prerequisites

Newer versions of the JRE (Java Runtime Environment), 1.4.1_04 and higher, do not give read permission for certain properties by default anymore. Because of that the XML parser of the CA applet is unable to parse the XML defining the graphical components, which are then rendered incorrectly, and basically are dysfunctional.

Solution

Read permission has to be granted explicitly by making the appropriate entries in the java.policy file. To this end, locate the java.policy file. Normally, it can be found in the directory

"Program Files/Java/j2reXXX_VV/lib/security",

where XXX and VV represent release and support package of the JRE, respectively. For example: XXX = 1.4.1 and VV = 05. Open the file java.policy with any text editor. The so-called "grant block" starts with the key word 'grant' followed by an opening curly brace '{'. It ends with a closing curly brace '}'. Add the following two read permissions to the grant block:

permission java.util. PropertyPermission "entityExpansionLimit", "read";

permission java.util. PropertyPermission "disallowDoctypeDecl", "read";

When you add these permissions, make sure that you do not disturb any of the existing permissions. Typically, choosing a new line for each permission is sufficient.

When restarting the browser the new permissions should become effective. In certain cases it may be necessary to reboot the computer.

CRM Marketing Calendar: Installation of a new version

Version: 1, Note Language: EN, Released on: 20.08.2004

Symptom

If a new version of the Marketing Calendar is delivered by note for the Enterprise Portal, the portal component (PAR file) and the ActiveX control (CAB file) may have to be uploaded.

This note describes how to do it.

Other terms

Marketing Calendar, campaigns, ActiveX, Business Package for CRM

Reason and Prerequisites

Installation note

Solution

1. Unpack the attached ZIP file.

Generally, file Mkt_calendar. zip is attached to the note with the correction of the Marketing Calendar.

You must unpack this file into a directory of your choice. The file contains at least one of the two following files:

TPMCalendar.cab

com.sap.pct.crm.mkt.calendar.par

2. Correction of the ActiveX control (CAB file)

For this purpose, upload the attached file TPMCalendar.CAB into the MIME Repository:

a) Call Transaction SE80 (Object Navigator) and choose 'MIME Repository' on the top left.

b) Expand folder CRM_MKTPL_CLDR, position the cursor on file TPMCalendar.CAB and delete it.

c) Position the cursor on the folder, use the right mouse button to open the context menu, choose 'Import MIME Objects' and import the new file TPMCalendar.CAB from the attachment.

3. Correction of the portal component

For this purpose, upload the attached file com.sap.pct.crm.mkt.calendar.par into the portal. To do this, logon to the portal as an administrator.

a) EP5:

Navigate to the top level entry 'Portal Admin' and then to entry 'PAR Upload' on the second navigation level.

Remove the existing archive com.sap.pct.crm.mkt.calendar.par by using the 'Archive Remover'. To do this, select the name of the archive in the combo box and choose 'Clean'.

Then upload the new archive into the portal by using the 'Archive Uploader'. Use the 'Browse' button to navigate to to the par file on your local host. Then choose 'Upload'.

b) EP6:

Navigate to 'System Administration -> Support' and then to the 'Administration Console' under the 'Portal Anywhere' admin tools.

Carry out the uplad as described for EP5.

Symptom

The marketing calender iView cannot be loaded.

Other terms

ActiveX, portal, 'Business Package for CRM'

Reason and Prerequisites

The settings for the installation and runtime of the marketing calendar are too restrictive.

Solution

The marketing calendar iView is implemented as ActiveX control. The following settings are required on the client for the error-free use:

1. During the installation (that is, during the first call of the iView), the user must have administrator rights on the client.

2. In the Internet options of MS Internet Explorer, tab page 'Advanced', you must deactivate option 'Do not save encrypted pages to disk' (standard setting).

3. In the security settings of the Internet Explorer, the URL of the portal must be added to the 'Trusted Sites'. In addition, the following options must be set under 'ActiveX controls and plug-ins':

'Download signed ActiveX controls' -> 'Prompt'

'Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins' -> 'Enabled'
