Do we need XI when we need a WebService in SAP 46c?

Hi,

we have a SAP 46C-system and now we have to use a webservice.

My question: I think, that "native" SAP-46C is not able to exchange messages via webservice - you need XI or third party systems!? - IS IT TRUE?

Is it possible that SAP-46C calls XI via RFC and XI uses a webservice to send the message to the external System - XI waits for an answer and sends back the answer via RFC to SAP-46C? Is this a common process?

Thanks a lot!

Regards

Wolfgang

Hi Wolfgang,

Here's a complete walkthrough of a RFC-XI-Webservice scenario:-

What exactly do you mean by "native" SAP? Do you want to use the webservice directly from an SAP r/3 system without using XI??

Hi Sushumna,

thanks a lot for your help!

Yes, we prefer (my boss do it )using webservice in SAP-46C without XI - but I think it's not possible.

Is it true?

Yes you can do this and since it's 46c and synchronous, SAP RFC would be obvious choice from different options.
