My client has the requirement

They have customers placing orders related to a project, for custom parts as well as standard parts. The custom items require a longer lead time. The customer expects a complete delivery of the whole order.

They face the situation that at order entry, the standard stocked components are available. But at the time the full order can be shipped, the standard stock has been allocated to other customer orders which had an immediate shipping window. Result is that the project orders get delayed, because of the missing standard stocked components (time to receive them from the supplier).

So, is there a way that standard parts can be automatically reserved for until custom parts are ready ?

This topic has been discussed many times as to how to reserve the unrestricted stock to a sale order. All you have to do is to search in Google so that you will find different ways to achieve this. Take the inputs from there and try in your system. Still if you face any issue, post here with your findings.
