Running out space in the Output / Input Repostitory BO 4.1 sp1?

I'm attempting to reduce the number of objects in the Output and Input Repositories by going into CMC / Objects / and remove old no longer used objects. The this page has a total number of objects in the lower right hand corner. That number rather than going lower as I removed old objects went higher. This doesn't make sense. Can someone please explain. Thank you in advance for your time and effort!

Input file repository stores your documents/reports and universes. When the number of objects increases - that means someone is adding reports tot he system or uploading other type of documents to it.
Output file repository stores instances of the reports (when schedule is run - its output goes to Output file repo).
If the number there increases - you have schedules in your system that produce those.
You can work with limits on instances to minimize impact. (See Admin guide).

p.s.
Bi4.1 Sp1 - is very very old. In BI 4.2 SP4 works better to maintain healthy FRS.
