Restore Database after error when applying Basis support package SAPKB70008

I had an error which occured when applying basis support package 8 to my NW2004S system and have been advised by SAP to restore from Backups. For those of you who that have access the message number is 489059.

As we have an ABAP & JAVA addin, I would really appreciate any advice, assistance or pitfalls to watch out for.

AS the only part that I think has been affected is the R3<SID>DATA is it okay to only restore the ABAP part. The JAVA add-in has had no changes to it, so I was hoping that I could leave this alone to simplify things.

Any assitance would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Steven

Just an update to the initial message. I noticed Rene Lang's post regading the buggy kernels. I have 700 patch DW62 on the system I had problems with.

Any advice on how I should handle kernels in my situation?

With regards,

Steven

Hello Steven,

indeed, patch DW#62 is one of the buggy 700 kernel patches. The bug causes some inconsistencies in the TP buffer file (which is /usr/sap/trans/buffer/). Please check the buffer for double entries and/or corrupted lines (e.g. with 2 order numbers in one line).

After implementing patch DW#67 or higher (and implementing note 937000 which is very important for this fix) you have to clean up the buffer. If you need support doing this please open a customer message.

Best regards,

René Lang

Hello Rene,

The support person that answered my message told me to clean the buffer, although when I mentioned about the reported issues with DW 62 he was not aware of this.

I have renamed the the /usr/sap/trans/buffer/<SID> which will allow buffer to be recreated.

Can you confirm that the note you quoted is correct, just in case there is a typo. The note 937000 is regarding the IGS.

Many thanks for your information, this is really helpful.

Best regards,

Steven
