Help with stored procedures

I have a stored procedure that I would like to have it read in an excel file. This excel file will have 3 cells that have multiple values in it for some of the parameters in the stored procedure. I would like to do this in Crystal reports, if its possible.

So far I have the xls connected ok, but when I try to create a dynamic parameter, it does not work. I cannot just link the fields because 2 of the fields are memo fields. I am lost!

    Hi Ginger,

Depending on the version of Crystal, a memo field can't be used as a parameter or in a formula.

What version of Crystal are you using?

What database is the Stored Procedure from?

At this point, there's no way to create a dynamic parameter unless you can change your field from a Memo to Char in your Stored Procedure.

    • Hi Ginger,

Because you shouldn't link a Stored Procedure to a table, I usually recommend having the Stored Procedure in the Main report then creating a subreport that connects to the Excel file. Then you can link the Main and Subreport using the SubReport Links.

It does depend on what your report is suppose to look like though.
