Our WP's are staying in a THDW status. From looking at he logs for WP's I do not see anything. I have stopped and restarted the system a few times with the same result. I could not find anyting on SDN. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Chris Sugg

Thanks!

I had forgotten about those commands. I'm guessing they are still around for Basis 7.00? The WP's mysteriously came back up after about five minutes and I did find out later that operations had a backup going so that I is why I'm assuming that was part of the cause. thanks for your help.

The commands SAVR3SYS, DSCR3SYS, and RCNR3SYS should not be used with SAP releases 6.10 and higher, and as i5/OS V5R3 the operating system offers a better method for online backups (see SAP notes 202593 and 825473). However, I am afraid the tool is still used in some environments, and that was the first explanation that came to my mind.

Chris,

it is hard to say what is going on. Usually work processes are single threaded, so they would show any other status but THDW. The only case where I know that work processes show THDW (in 6.40 and higher) is when they are delayed for a specific time.

One possible reason for this could be that the system is in a "disconnect" state (after using DSCR3SYS or SAVR3SYS). You could either run RCNR3SYS (if you have that tool), or shut down all SAP instances in that partition and delete user space QSYS/QXDADBBK, then restart the instances. If this doesn't help, I would suggest to open a message at SAP.

Kind regards,

Christian Bartels.
