Learning Solution Curriculum Functionality

We are implementing Learning Solution (LSO300) and have found the curriculum functionality lacking. Is anyone using SAP's curriculum functionality in Learning Solution and willing to share how you are using it?

Hi Laura,

Yes, the curriculum functionality is lacking in LSO 200 & 300 however, there have been some good changes in LSO 600.

For example, you can specify that a course is only bookable via a curriculum. This avoids those cryptic errors when someone tries to book a curriculum and it tells that they can't (but no real reason) when the issue is he/she has already booked one of the courses on their own.

Another change SAP did was that you can change a curriculum (i.e. add a course to it) and can also sequence WBTs in a curriculum.

We are still on LSO 200 and use the curriculum for only e-learning where really it is only a bundle of WBTs which can be taken in any order. The best way I've seen the use of curriculum in 200 or 300 was for a new employee curriculum for example. In that case, courses for the new employees were always pre-scheduled in advance (i.e. every month)

The other good news is that SAP is coming up with Course Program functionality which is what customers really want where I don't have to have classroom courses with pre-scheduled dates or I can specify blocks within the course program what are mandatory or optional. The course program is available in LSO 200 Enhancement Pack 2.

Hope this helps.
