BO4 - webi rich client - user getting message login failed but just on one lapop

Hi,

We have a user who is trying to login to web intelligence rich client desktop version - they get message login failed.

Can login with this user to enterprise environment with no issues.

Have asked team who install the software to double-check correct version, oracle client installed and communication o.k from laptop to database and bo server and no firewall blocking between laptop and these as well as having write access to local directories.

Anything else can think of - any logs output with exact reason for login faliures?

  • Can the same user login to webi rich clients on other machines ?
    what is the exact error ?

    you can enable trace for webi rich client and see if log have more info.
    you can also use process explorer and process monitor to see what happens when user tries to login.

    usually, if its a machine and not user specific - it is either a bad install or a network issue between that machine and the BOE server.

    Hi,

    If it is specific to the user login,

    Check the DNS name and refresh the connection.

    Also try renaming the LSI file in your machine and check the below steps:

    1. Navigate to the following location;

    "%USERPROFILE%\My Documents\My Business Objects Documents\LocData"

    OR

    simply search for .lsi files

    2. Rename <servername_portnumber>.lsi file to <servername_portnumber>.lsi.old.

    3. Try to log into Webi Rich Client again and check.

    If .lsi file does not exist in your machine then it could be an installation issue.

    have you tried deleting the LSI file of particular BO server from your local laptop?If not then try to delete and check again in rich client.

    Path would be

    C:\Users\your user nameDocuments\My SAP BusinessObjects Documents\LocData

    Thanks for suggestions - team who control installs did similar and got no joy thus they have decided to uninstall/reinstall
