Non IDES on Suse 9

Former Member

I'm trying to set up an MCOD, SAP 4.7, Non IDES, Suse Ent Server 9. I can't get past the RFC error at the end of the first database install. The usual fix is to stop and the restart sap r3, but this does not work.

After 2 weeks of research and many attempts on what to do, I'm giving up. I have upgraded the SAP kernel to 6.4, only to get an error with Oracle afterwards and the db refuses to start (with the command startsap all). Has anyone experienced this and if so, what's the fix? I can't understand why my Kernel upgrade won't fix this problem. Thanks...

Hi Tiina,

welcome to SDN. Have you opened a OSS Message regarding this problem? They should support you because SuSE Enterprise Server 9 is a supported Platform.

Ah, no, I haven't yet. I wasn't sure what the protocol is, I thought I'd start here first. Thank you so much for your help, Gregor!

I figured out the problem today, in case anyone is checking out this post for any reason.

The NLS path in the <sid>adm environment profile for was incorrect. Oracle couldn't find the files.

/home/<sid>adm/.dbenv_(hostname).csh and .sh
