how to write a simple adapter in java

Hi,

I'am very new to XI. I want to write a simple adapter in java. I have a file in the csv(Excel) format. I want to pick up this file convert it into XML format. can anyone please tell me how to go about it. I will later use this adapter on XI and test it.
