XI alert not triggering

Hi All,

I have implemented a simple scenario SRM -> XI -> Http Adapter. I would like to trigger an alert whenever the HTTP adapter send errors. I have followed Michal's 'XI: Alerts - Step by Step' blog but I am still not getting an alert in my inbox whenever the HTTP adapter fails to send (resulting in red flags in sxmb_moni). I have setup other alerts that are triggered within a BPM and they work successfully. This particular alert however is not triggered within a BPM.

1) is what I am trying to do technically possible? That is, raising an alert outside of a bpm for when a message fails in XI. From Michal's blog it is, but please confirm.

2) Doing an 'RSALERTTEST' in se38 for this alert category works.

3) Alert rule for this alert is set to No Restrictions and still doesn't result in an alert in my inbox.

If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it!

    Hi,

    1) is what I am trying to do technically possible? That is, raising an alert outside of a bpm for when a message fails in XI. From Michal's blog it is, but please confirm.

    >>>Yes. For this you need to configure the Alert Rules in the RWB->Alert Configuration

What type of errors you will get in the http adapters. If you want to send an alert for the Adapter Errors , then you can configure this. (SP14 onwards). You can check this option in Alert Rule configuration.

Apply this SAP Note - 913858

    Hope this helps

    Regards,

    Moorthy

    Hi Joy,

Which SP are you on? Like mentioned By moorthy, From Sp14 onwards, Alerts have been made independent of End to End monitoring. Fro Sp14 and above note 913858 has to be implemented.

If you are below Sp14, then also check this blog by Michal,

    <a href="/people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/09/09/xi-alerts--troubleshooting-guide Shooting Alerts.

Make sure you have scheduled the Background Job, SXMSALERT_PROCESS_DATA_GET and you have activated End to End Monitoring.

Thanks Moorthy and Bhavesh for your quick responses.

We are currently on XI 7.0 sp 7. As a lot of the documentation does not really cover this version, I am presuming that I do not need to perform any of the scheduling steps for alerts. Is this correct?

I have looked at all of Note 913858 and 932085. Q8 of 913858 relates to my problem but the suggested solution did not apply to my problem as I had no dumps in st22.

    Hi All,

Just an update on this - I logged a message with SAP and they have now fixed it. The problem was that the RFC destination "CentralMonitoringServer-XIAlerts did not have a fully qualified hostname.

Thanks for your responses. I have awarded some points.

    Regards,

    Joy
