Retroactive Accounting

Hi All

We are implementing the OM, PA and Benefits modules in HR in 2006. We are not implementing Payroll at this time.

We have the payroll control record set to 01/01/2005.

When an employee is hired on 01/01/2005 , we get the following warning message.

Enter data for payroll past (retroactive accounting).

1. Why are we getting the warning message?

2. Is there any way to avoid this from coming up as we get it 6 to 7 times in the hiring process.

Thanks,

Changed the earliest retroactive acctg date to 2004. It still did not work.

Another question I have is

1. What implications is this change going to have when we actually implement Payroll?

Thanks,

You get this message because the control record of the payroll area the empoloyee you are hiring belongs to (in infotype 1), is set to account for a period that is after 01/01/2005. See PA03 - payroll period fields.

When you hire an employee you save a whole bunch of infotypes, and some of them are payroll relevant such as 0000, 0001, 0007, 0008, 0027. Because you are saving all these records as of 01/01/2005 you get the warning message telling you that if you run payroll for this person, it will go retro.

When you will implement payroll later, you will have to set the control record of the pay area to a go live first period. Please read more about payroll control record in SAP library you will understand how it works.
