Importing roles from R3

Hi all,

I am trying to import roles from R3 system.

I've gone through the document in service.sap.com - how to guides.

Is it mandatory that v should have the S_RFC authorization for function group PWP2, in order to import the roles?

I don't have that authorization in R3; still tried to import the role. The role gets created in the role folder but the transaction iviews are not created? When I open the role, instead of getting the transactions listed down, I get <b>'Linked object not available'</b>. Is it because of that authorization? Can someone help me out?

Hi Subhratha,

There is a limitation with the role upload that it cannot upload the derived roles. Is this your case ? Have you tried uploading standard roles ? In general role upload uploads roles which have an own menu and derived roles do not have an own menu.

Hi,

I donot know much about the roles in R3.

How do i check if a role is derived from some other role or not? By checking the field '<b>Derive from role</b>' when displaying the role, is it? If not, how should I proceed?

Thanks for the links.

But the pdf cannot be opened. It says 'the file is damaged and could not be repaired'. Anyway, as I have already mentioned, I have gone through the 'how to guides' in service.sap.com.

Can someone give a solution?

I am stuck up with this for the past 2 weeks!!

Hi Subathra,

jst for ur information i have done the role upload sometie back using S_RFC authorization refering the How to Guides, i was able to role upload without any difficult, please ask ur basis admin to assign the auth. and re-perform the task. i m sure u too can do it without ant hassels.

Now, I've the authorization S_RFC.

Still, I get the error. Should I do some configuration in the portal side?
