Goods in "transit SL" when EXW and GR / IR before final SL

Dear experts,

I really could need some advice regarding our process handling goods with long transit and ex works delivery. How it is done at the moment:
Overseas vendor delivers EXW. Date of shipment and date when we get the invoice are mostly equal. So as soon as we get the invoice we do a GR to a special "transit SL" and afterwards IR. After a couple of weeks the goods finally arrive and we do a movement to the final SL.

Problem: Goods seem to be available though they are still on a ship for maybe a few more weeks. That is because the "transit SL" is MRP relevant (if this is the right way to describe it). If it would not be, then the requisitions would still exist!?

So by looking into MD04 we get the wrong information about the real availability.

When I heard about the procedure I was guessing that there is a better way to handle this. Any advice highly appreciated.
