Difference between Adapter an Proxy-Objects

Former Member

I am reading the SAP Exchange Infrastructure manuel on help.sap.com but I don't really understand the difference between a direct communication with proxies and on the other side with an adapter.

Can someone give me a briefly introduction?

Does anybody know if there is a printable version of the manual available?? I don't want to print every page on its own

thanks

chris

Hi Chris,

>>>>Can someone give me a briefly introduction?

the main difference:

proxies do not convert from any format to any

they are native connections so they use XML (SOAP)

(abap proxies java proxies)

adapters convert from any format (file, jdbc etc)

to XML

BTW

of course you <b>can </b>create a proxy that will

use jdbc or http etc.

Hi ,

Did you go thru this part of SAP Help-

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/86/58cd3b11571962e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm

XI will communicate in native language with SAP systems via proxies.

In simpler way ,Adapters will convert one format into another expected/target format.

>>You can get some pdfs/ppts from the service market place. But it may not be covering everything like Book.
