Hi
Correlation is used 2 assign messages that belong 2gether 2 the same process instance.A correlation joins messages that have the same value 4 one or more XML elements. So we can say,it is a loose coupling of messages.
Example:
In a process, receivestep1 receives the message Purchase order and receivestep2 receives the message Sales order. Now receivestep1 creates a correlation that defines that the corresponding Sales order must refer 2 the same Purchase order number. Receivestep2 uses the correlation. That means that an instance of the process processes the PO and the corresponding SO, which has the same PO number.

Hi Ramu,
Correlations are used when your business process is such that the sending/receiving of one message depends on the status of the other message.
I'm not sure if you have come across this ducumentation earlier:-

Hi,
Correlation in BPM is generally used for creating relations betweent he message scoming in.
Suppose you want to create a sales order depending on the Purchase order coming in and then you want ot update the sales order details back to the Sender system saying htis is the SO created in receiver system corresponding to PO in sender system.
