Calling an external application from ABAP Web Dynpro

I don't know if this is possible, but can you call an external application on the client PC via ABAP Web Dynpro. We are replacing an old legacy application with an ABAP Web Dynpro appliation. The old legacy applications makes a call to another needed local application. I wanted to know if I could leverage this other application by calling it from the ABAP Web Dynpro application. If not then things will be much more complicated. Just trying to figure out what my options are.

I found the answer, ACF Execute. Also needed to create the ACF whitelist and ACF certificate and install the certificate.
