I am assuming that you want to monitor abnormal terminaiton on the OS(WINNT) level. yeah you can do this by checking the OS logs. Starting after abnormal termination the OS logs the abnormal termination in the Application and System logs. You can check these logs in the event viewer.

right click on "my computer" and click on manage.

go to.

Computer Management->System Tools-> Event Viewer

check Applicaiton and System log entries to find Abnormal Termination log entries.

Hi,

I am asking about WEBAS server.i want to know the details about the starting and shut down of WEB AS.So that i can know whether it is normal or ab-normal termination. I think there will be a log file where there will be an information regarding this(about starting and shut down).So can you pls tell me where to find that log file in the server.

hi,

The path of these log files is.

usr\sap\<sid>\dvebmgs<instance#>\work

there are number of log files that you can check here but i think these log file do not have information you require. These file mostly log information about starting/stopping sap system , work process logs and other trace files.

Hi Kiran,

this depends on the used hardware and operating system. You probably would find more useful information on the hardware and OS provider documentation.
