Hi All,
Can I apply patches(SPs) on SAP ASE 15.7 Developer Edition on Windows box ?
Please state the steps or "How to " docs related to it.
Thank you!!
Regards
-pankaj
As SAP customer you can see and download the patch bundle applicable to your h/w and OS platform.
A patch bundle has a set of files including
- manifest (list) of files,
- a file about bug fixes and CRs done and
- a file with steps to install.
Typically
If it is a cumulative patch (i.e everything included up to that point) then the steps to patch are same as a new install.
If it is incremental (rare ones or 1-offs) then a prior installation is expected.
As a safety measure before I apply the patch I would
- take full database backup of all user and system databases (excluding tempdb though)
- after shutting down the server take a cold file level back up of ASE install folder
Then apply the patch.
Restart the data server and backup server.
run the "install" set of scripts
Run the dbcc upgrade object for user databases
Watch out for errors in the ASE and SYB_BACKUP error logs and fix them.

Hi Pankaj
You will need S-id and password
The SAP download site is bit confusing but these are the steps I went thru
https://support.sap.com/software.html
(needs S-ID and Password)
click on the "Software Downloads" picture button
SELECT SUPPORT PACKAGES & PATCHES (second option at the top tab)
SELECT BY CATEGORY Scroll down almost to end
SELECT Sybase Products
SELECT SAP ADAPTIVE SERVER ENTERPRISE
SELECT SYBASE ASE SERVER 15.7
SELECT MICROSOFT WINDOWS (from dropdown for OS)
I see 33 items for download (for Windows 64)
And the latest one I see is : ASESERV1570138P_0-20011145.ZIP EBF 26392: 15.7 SP138
The zip file should have all you need.

I have attached the screen clip. See if that helps.
For windows "zip" files make sense.
For Unix and Linux it will be a tar compressed archive with file extension called tgz

Thank you so much Avinash, for your restless effort on this thread !!
Meanwhile , .SAR file I used to patch the SAP Sybase ASE 15.7 SP101 to SP136 , and patch eventually applied successfully.
Only you need to have SAPCAR utility to extract this file extension , others same as .ZIP file.

Cool.
Appreciate your inputs on "what fixed" it for you.
Also something to know and note about SAPCAR utility for me too !
Cheers.
