Hi ,

I want to give semi colon as a data separator in the External data tab to schedule a infopackage for flat file . can somebody tell me what changes I have to do in a CSV file so that it accepts " ; " as a data separator.

Regards,

Jeetu

These separators are user defind, it's good if we set up some standard norms, so that everyone at your project follows the same.

Now the crux of matter, i.e. regarding your query -> maintain the standards of separators in infopakage and Excell file which is converted to CSV mode. U can see these setting for separators in the one of the tabs of infopackege. If u are not finding this packege, then it means that ur sourcesystem assignment is wrong. Once u maintain source system as Excell file, this tab for separator defination automatically appears in infopakage, there u have to make ur setting and then maitain similar settings in the source Excell file as well.

Kindly assign the points if it helps.

Hi Jeetu,

If you're using Excel to export data in CSV format, you need to change your regional settings on your computer. You can access the setting by Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options. On Regional Options click Customize button and change your list separator to ";". After you export your data in CSV format, revert your setting.

Hope this helps...

hi,

if u want to have semicolon as seperator, then u need to use notepad where u manually put semi colon, instead of using an excel file.
