Hi,
We're currently in the process of upgrading from EP 6 SP13 to EP 7.0 (probably ending up on SP08). We are not doing a direct migration/upgrade, instead building up a parallell environments and transfering content between them.
We have some tracks in NWDI that are connect to the EP 6 portal production line, these include:
J2EE libraries
ESS/MSS Webdynpro business packages
Custom webdynpro components
The question is, how can we get the track contents to the EP 7.0 portal, whilst still being able do production fixes on the EP 6.0 portal
We expect very few changes, so a manual operation will suffice.
The NWDI system will soon be upgrade to NW2004s as well, but I assume this will not perform any changes on the existing tracks.
I don't think we can create a track connection as described in Marion's blog /people/marion.schlotte/blog/2006/03/30/best-practices-for-nwdi-track-design-for-ongoing-development , as the EP 7.0 will have different versions of the DC's our components are dependent on.
Therefore, I believe we need to copy the existing track, open each DC and change the DC references from version 6.40 to version 7.0(hoping that the interface is the same). However, this can be a huge job, especially considering the size of MSS (which we are using only a small part of, but the whole package is imported).
Anyone had any experiences with this?
