"the page cannot be displayed error"

hi, everybody, well, i've waited for 2 days before posting it, now i give up, i just can't find the solution anywhere...

First things first - i'm sorry for my Engish, it's not my mother tongue, and i'm total newbe in SAP world (i've just applied for an ABAP course, so i'm kind a SAP virgin ...)

And here comes my problem, i'm sure you've already heard about it before:

1/ I've installed SAP Mini Basis 4.6D on Windows XP -

"the page cannot be displayed error"

2/ I downloaded SAPGui46D_Patch687, but i don't know how to execute it...

3/ I uninstalled FrontEnd 4.6D and installed FrontEnd 6.40 --- "the page cannot be displayed error"

4/ I downloaded SAPGui640_Patch18.exe and executed it --- "the page cannot be displayed error"

Any ideas please to help me out here ...
