Hi,
I've followed the http://www.sap.com/developer/how-tos/2017/02/vora-ova-install.html tutorial, and it didn't all work out as planned:
Here is the Shared Folders part of the VM-settings:
Thanks for helping me out...
Hi Fred,
2. Can you please try to execute "vmhgfs-fuse /mnt/hgfs" and then check the contents in /mnt/hgfs.
Br,
Mark

Thanks, Mark. This command worked for me as root, in Fusion 8.5.6 on the Mac. I get a warning about the library is too old, though I can see the contents of my shared host folder 'Temp'.
vora@linux-6rxg:~> sudo vmhgfs-fuse /mnt/hgfs
root's password:
fuse: warning: library too old, some operations may not not work
vora@linux-6rxg:~> ls /mnt/hgfs
ls: cannot access /mnt/hgfs: Permission denied
vora@linux-6rxg:~> sudo ls /mnt/hgfs
Temp
Hi Fred,
1.
This is a bug actually, but the fix is pretty simple.
Once you changed your password, run "sudo insserv -r vora-userinfo"
Then, if you reboot, you can use the password that you changed to.
2.
Will check this.
Did you install the Virtual Box guest additions?
Best regards,
Mark

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the directions. No 1 is fixed.
About the Guest additions: I don't really know (or better: I didn't, but they may have come with open SUSE?). And I can't get them installed (system says no CD/DVD drive to mount the image to). Even doing the prerequisites makes my head spin (errors when trying to install gcc using zypper).
But all the benefits from the Guest additions seem to be there (or at least I can select things like bi-directional drag-n-drop in the settings).
Do you have another tip??
Thanks, Fred
Hi Vora folks,
I've had both these Vora 1.3 VM issues as well (passwords, sharing) in VMWare Fusion on Mac OS X 10.11.6 with 64GB RAM. The Vora 1.3 VM is allocated 4 cores and 8GB RAM. The VMWare tools were installed as in step 10 of this "How To" document.
https://www.sap.com/developer/how-tos/2017/02/vora-ova-install.html
When I attempt to share host folders, a VMWare dialog says: "Unable to update run-time folder sharing status: There was an error mounting the Shared Folders file system inside the guest operating system"
Another issue I encountered was the Zeppelin notebook for 2_Hierarchies wasn't included. I manually created it from the screenshots in the tutorial. https://www.sap.com/developer/tutorials/vora-cal-zeppelin2.html
Networking in the VM was set to "host-only" per the "How To" guide, but I thought about trying to fetch the notebook from the git repository, since they appear to be hosted at github, but only the tutorials, not the Zeppelin notebook page (json file): https://github.com/SAPDocuments/Tutorials/tree/master/tutorials/vora-cal-zeppelin2
Is answers.sap.com the best or correct location for feedback and issue resolution on the Vora 1.3 VM or is there another more appropriate forum?
Thanks for any help!
Doug
