optional variables not displaying in BEx Web Analyzer via portal

Hello!

optional variables are not displaying when executing a query via the BEx Web Analyzer. The variable screen can be forced by clicking the variable screen button under the filter area after the query has been executed. We would like the variable screen to display before the query is executed. any advise?

Thanks!

By default, the variables screen only appears if mandatory variables have not been filled.

Using the BEx Web Application Designer, you can turn on the VARIABLE_SCREEN (Force Variable Screen/Always Display Variable Screen) property in the 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN template, which is the standard template called by the Web Analyzer.

SAP recommends saving a copy of the 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN template before modifying it.

You could also save a copy of the template, rename it, make the parameter change, then change the template called by the Web Analyzer:

From a technical viewpoint, the standard Web template for ad hoc analysis is based on the template 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN. This template is set by default for the ad hoc analysis in the SAP Reference IMG under SAP NetWeaver ® Business Intelligence ® Reporting-Relevant Settings ® BEx Web ® Setting Standard Web Templates. You can copy this Web template to make changes and set it as your new default Web template for the ad hoc analysis in the IMG.

Thanks for the response!

When we run the query via the web, the variable screen displays; however, when we run it using the BEx Web Analyzer through the portal (2004s recommended approach for delivering BW queries), the variable screen does not appear.
