Process Chain cancels itself after 3.5 upgrade.

Dear Experts,

Having recently upgraded our landscape to 3.5 from 3.10 Content we have been experiencing problems with our process chains.

When the chains are scheduled to run over night we get the following message :-

Job started

Step 001 started (program RSPROCESS, variant &0000000199467, user ID ALEREMOTE)

Communication buffer deleted from previous run 420T34M70PV9XYSIC0F6EOHT4 (status G)

Version 'M' of chain CRMDATA1 was saved without checking

Version 'A' of chain CRMDATA1 was saved without checking

The Chain Was Removed From Scheduling

Event RSPROCESS with parameter 3U1BN9WKLFJSIFKIP1HT1N6SO successfully triggered

Job finished

And the chain portion of the message shows this :-

On 05.06.2006 At 20:00:28 O'Clk and 507 MS

With Status Canceled

Target Event RSPROCESS

With Parameter 3U1BN9WKLFJSIFKIP1HT1N6SO

And non of the Jobs within the chains run.

Now if we run the chains manually everything is fine.

Does someone have an explaination for this or better still a way to fix it.

I have searched the forum already and SAP Notes system to no avail.

Help please.

Thanks in advance.

Craig

Have you checked the Process chain after Upgrade. It seems it is not in active status. Please check this and activate and run again

Sat,

Yes the chains are active, made certain of that!

What's most perculiar is that the chains sometimes run partly but more often they just cancel. What I mean by that is this one chain runs 3 individual chains simultaneously and 1 will complete but the other 2 will just cancel themselves.

Now as I have mentioned the chains run just fine manually but fail when scheduled.

This was never a problem with the previous version of BW.

Thanks

Do you have any entries in the SM21 or ST22? Maybe the runtimes changed and they now lock each other.

Dirk,

Thanks for the reply. I had checked these but I was originally looking for error messages. However upon further inspection I see the following messages :-

No job count can be generated for job BI_PROCESS_LOADING

During the values check for background processing, the attempt to generate a unique JOBCOUNT for the specified job failed because there are more than 99 entries with the same JOBNAME / JOBCOUNT ID. Forward this syslog entry to SAP.

BP_JOB_CREATE: Job cannot be generated. Reason:

The attempt to create a new background processing job (by means of the function module BP_JOB_CREATE) failed. The reason for this is described in more detail in a further system log entry after this system log entry.

Job BI_PROCESS_LOADING contains invalid data

The attempt to create a new job ( function module BP_JOB_CREATE ) or to modify it ( function module BP_JOB_MODIFY ) failed because job data is invalid. It is described in more detail which data is invalid in a previous system log entry. Please correct this data.

Any idea how we can fix this ?

Cheers

Some ideas:

First of all you should replicate all data sources and run report RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL.

Second, find all jobs with jobname BI_PROCESS_LOADING. Terminate them if they are still running (while waiting for triggers e.g.)

Next you can start the process chain again.

If it still doesn't work don't forget what the syslog tells you:

Forward this syslog entry to SAP.

Dirk,

Thanks for the suggestions. Looks like this is referenced in SAP Note 728947. Will find out tomorrow if this has fixed our problem.

Thanks for your help.
