Friends, i m new to SAP. A very basic question.
When we install SAP for an enterprise, which DBMS will be installed in Database layer? Will it be Oracle? There are around 22,000 tables in SAP. Using which DBMS these tables are created? Is the DBMS fixed for SAP installation? Can it also be possible that ADABAS D, DB2/400 (onAS/400), DB2/Common Server, DB2/MVS,INFORMIX, Microsoft SQL Server be used as DBMS for SAP installation?
Hi Surja,
ORACLE is by no means the default database platform for SAP installations. As listed in your question SAP supports different database platforms. DB2 for Linux, Unix, Windows ( DB2 LUW, formerly DB2/Common Server ) is one of them.

Surja,
for details about the supported DBMS have a look at the Product Availability Matrix.
