Selective erase of Master Data

Dear Guru,

Its unclear what is the meaning of 'Delete Master Data' as shown in slg1.

The message text shows that 'Master data with SID' 15 was deleted. What does the number mean?

Does this mean only 15 records of a master data was deleted selectively (out of more than 15 records) or the whole master data was deleted. Eg. right-click -> delete master data function. With information in the next paragraph, is it possible to tell what exact action was done on the master data? complete deletion or selective?

The slg1 log shows that for this infoobject master data,

External Id MDDEL_Z<INFOOBJECT>, of object text 'Master data' and sub-object text 'Delete master data', Trans 'RSD1', Program '%_T002T1', Mode 'Dialog pro...'.

Please experts, could you give me some clues.

Regards,

Shankell Pong

hi Shankell,

it means only 15 records deleted.

we cannot delete master data that still using by infoproviders.

normally we right click infoobject and 'delete master data', and it will say not all master data can be deleted if some are used in infoproviders.

to check the total record, you may use se16, and table name /bic/P[infoobjectname] or /bi0/P[infoobjectname] for non time-dependent master data, and click 'number of entries', for text the table is T[infoobjectname].

hope this helps.

Dear A.H.P, just to confirm and close this, the log that says 'Delete Master Data' means not all data is deleted, even if there is no transaction data.

Thanks,

hi Shankell,

as well as the individual value of master data not use anywhere, it will be deleted, if all values of master data are not used anywhere then should be empty after you performed 'delete master data', you can check after do deletion with e.g 'maintain master data',

to check where the individual value used, take a look

hope it's clear.
