Time Dependent Hierarchy

Former Member

Hello,

I'm trying to create a time dependent hierarchy for the first time. In the infoObject i chose time-dependent hierarchy structure. I've built a new hierarchy, with the same leave in two different nodes. Each leave got different time interval but when i run a report on a period which include the time interval of the two leaves i get only one node...

Please advice.

Thank you,

David

Maybe i don’t understand the concept of time-dependent hierarchy.

I want the report to view a certain cost center in node A from January till March 2005 and the same cost center in different node from April till June. If I run the report for periods 1-6.2005 I want to see the cost center in both nodes. Is it possible?

Hope I’m clear…

Hi Shreya,

I know all these hierarchy types. In my last two posting i ment to talk about Characteristic hierarchy.

Hi,

With this modelling you cannot see the cost center in both nodes.

If you want to see both new and older versions , you should model them as time depedent nav. attributes.

Hi Shylaja,

Thank you for your reply.

I dont want to compare the hierarchies. I want to see them both in one tree but in diffrent nodes. Is it possible?

Hi,

When ever you run the report, you select the hierarchy name and give the key date . As per that date, the cost center is displayed under any one of the valid nodes.

Hope its clear..

Hi Shylaja,

The problem with your suggestion is that i get the same result in both nodes for the same hierarchy. I want to get for example the result of the period 1-3.2005 in node A and the result of the period 4-6.2005 in node B. If i do as you said I’ll get the result of the period 1-6.2005 in both nodes.

Hi David,

Can you be bit clear?

"If i do as you said I’ll get the result of the period 1-6.2005 in both nodes. "

Where are you giving the period? what key date you selected for the hierarchy?

Hi Shylaja,

If i go to the properties of the costcenter and push the button next to the hierarchy name i get a window with the title selct hierarchy. I made a selcet-options variable in the key date section. It looks like the key date refer only to the hierarchy validity data ==> if i do a drill down acording to fiscal year period i can see that the report contains data from all the periods and not only from the selected periods.

Hope i'm clear now...

David
