It sounds like an easy question, but I haven't been able to find a straight answer. I'm hoping someone here can help me.
Can APAB users authenticate driectly from Active Directory? My WAS 6.40 ABAP servers are running on Solaris, and I simply want to be able to authenticate users in a way similar to the way I do for EP. Can this be done?
It looks like I can sync the attributes, but is there a way to authenticate as well? I don't think the password can be synced.

The UME is part of WAS 6.40 JAVA, but I'm working with ABAP-only servers.

Hi Christopher,
You can establish AD authentication on ABAP by configuring LDAP connector. Please check transaction LDAP and this URL

Hi Christopher,
Yes you can.Logic behind this is that UME is part of WAS 6.40 and NOT PORTAL. Infact Portal uses the same from WAS.
