Hi, we are implementing SAP PORTALS for a company, that company have several organizational units. The company want that every organizational unit have its own portal; We have a single installation.

I suppose SAP PORTAL is multiportal, I mean, one physical installation of the portal and multiple logical portals. I have read something about multitenant portal.

Is multitenant portal the key for have multiple portals in one installation?

I have not the multitenat option in my portal, What is needed?

Thanks in advanced.

Regards.

Hi Optima,

Installing and maintaining a new portal for each different Org. Unit might be overkill. I will recommend the folllowing :

1) Split users into different groups per org.

2) create different sets of roles / portal content for each org. [ try using merge ids here of pcd factories ]

3) define theme / desktop per org.

4) define rule according to groups so they will get their own private desktops

5) Use user admin deleegation to split the admin activities

6) Use different URLs to open different roles if required.

Hope this helps you resolve your issues.

Hi,

We are implementing portals and was intrested in the Multitenant portals.

But SAP Note 863837 - Central Note for "Multitenant Portal" Scenario (SAP NW2004s) says

"

Solution

IT scenario variant "Implementing a Multitenant Portal" will not be released for general availability

Based on ramp-up experience and customer feedback, SAP has decided to not release the IT scenario variant "Implementing a Multitenant Portal" for general availability after SAP NetWeaver 2004s ramp-up.

All material of this IT scenario variant and the multitenant portal capabilities themselves will be removed as of SAP NetWeaver 2004s Support Package Stack 08.

Customers interested in implementing the multitenant portal solution during ramp up should be aware of the current limitations described in SAP Note 853509 and involve SAP before starting a project.

Upgrade of a Multitenant Portal to SAP NetWeaver 2004s SPS 08"

I am confused, whether multtenant portal is available or not.

Thanks,

Durga

Optima,

You might want to review http://service.sap.com/nw-fpn to make sure that it is multitenancy that you want rather than fpn.

Optima,

Just remember to pay attention to server requirements with MTP. MTP requires NW2004s on Support Package Stack 05.

Also review notes 916545, 852008.

There are also security related tasks for MTP

Hi,

I don't think separate Physical Portal installation is required for this.

There are activities which Administrator needs to do for setting up Multitenant Portal enviornment.

Hi

you can have serveral portals on one installation by providing seperate system ID during installation.
