Transfer externally owned stock to 3PL

Hi,

there is externally own stock (from repairs) at our local warehouse. As the 3PL does all deliveries, we would like to Transfer this stock to the 3PL.

Is there any way to manage this in ByD?

Hi Kalus,

You will not be able to move the externally owned stock directly via a stock transfer order. You have mentioned that the externally owned stock is in your warehouse for repairs. I has assumed 3 business scenarios when it comes to returns and provided the actions you can take in ByD.

1. Has the repair been completed?
2. Do you perform repairs at your local warehouse and then ask your warehouse provider to deliver it for you from the local warehouse?
3. Do you receive the returns at your externally managed warehouse, repair and deliver the goods back to your customer?
4. Do you receive the returns at your local warehouse, repair the product transfer it to your externally managed warehouse and then deliver it back to your customer?

Do you perform repairs at your local warehouse and then ask your warehouse provider to deliver it for you from the local warehouse?

If yes, then you can assign your warehouse provider as the Freight Forwarder in the PGI screen or in the Outbound Delivery screen if warehouse tasks are being used. Make sure that the outbound delivery is Not Released.

Do you receive the returns at your externally managed warehouse, repair and deliver the goods back to your customer?

If yes, you need to cancel all your Inbound documents via which you received the return in your internal warehouse and create a New Customer Return Notification from the Common Tasks view under the third-Party Logistics work center.

Do you receive the returns at your local warehouse, repair the product, transfer it to your externally managed warehouse and then deliver it back to your customer?

You cannot achieve the above scenario directly in ByD. The work around is that you will have to receive the product in Customer Return Notification by maintaining the Follow-Up Activity as Post to Own Stock. Your stock will not be tagged as externally owned, but you will be able to move the product from your local warehouse to your 3PL warehouse without any restriction and then deliver it to your customer.
