Enable storage space access for file writing in SAP MDK

Hello SAP MDK experts,

Is it possible to enable storage space access in an Android application programmatically within SAP MDK?

I have a SAP MDK application that scans N amount of barcodes and then allows the user to download files. When users tested it on their Zebra HHT devices, they encountered an error (see attached error-hht-download.png). They mentioned that the issue was resolved when they manually enabled storage space access, but ideally, the application should handle this automatically.

To my understanding, this might not be possible. I'm aware that I can guide the user with some sort of popup, but I would greatly appreciate insights from someone more knowledgeable in this framework.
