Variant Configuration HALB and FERT - Nested Configurable BOM

Dear Gurus,

There aren't many threads on this topic on scn to clarify my query. So here it goes.

I have a FERT material with super Bom. One of it's SFG also has a super Bom. When sales order for the FERT material will be opened multiple values for the materials in it's Bom will be given for selection.
But SFG also has a superbom, so where will the values be assigned to it's bom materials as only FERT bom will be shown in the sales order for the value assignment?
This is MTO scenario and FERT and SFG are being manufactured in different plants. Special Proc Key 70 being used.

    Shankar Jayesh,

    In this case you need to find a way to pass on values from header material to sub- assembly.

    add characteristic of sub assembly to header level too so that while assigning values to select components from FERT user will also assign values to components selection for sub- assembly.


    Generate values for second level based upon values selected at first level.

    Hi Shankar,

    You need to use KMAT material type, if you want to use FERT and HALB materail than you need to tick configurable material in material type - spro > Logistics gen > material > basic setting > material type > define attributes

    All the characteristics can be driven from the finished material which is sales order.

    if you write dependency with $parent than it will refer the characteristcs of header material, and in case of $root it will refer the highest level of the chararcteristics.
