I frequently work on crystal reports for a credit union using SAP Crystal Reports 2016 (Support Pack 7). I am using version 14.2.7.3069. For a while, I had a small PC and worked on reports without issue. However, I recently upgraded to a new laptop. It is a Lenovo ThinkPad P15v Gen 3. AND Ryzen 7 PRO 6850H and 32 GB of RAM. It should not struggle with running crystal reports at all.
However, ever since starting with the laptop, I run into a problem of SAP shutting down all the time. It seems that any time I open a new report and either run it or try to view the command query for it, the program stops responding and I eventually have to manually shut it down. But, if I then reopen SAP and try to do the exact same thing, most of the time it suddenly starts working without issue. Then if I open another new report or if I close out and wait for several minutes before using SAP again, then I get the same issue.
Any ideas on why this is happening or how to fix it? I have seen other similar issues but I couldn't find any conclusive fixes. I have tried repairing the SAP install, uninstalling it and reinstalling it. I have tried essentially uninstalling my whole ODBC connection and everything, then reinstalling from scratch. I've done just about everything I can think of. I don't know if maybe there is a windows service that isn't starting up correctly or what.
