Hello Friends,
My company manufactures large industrial machines that are highly configurable. Customers are able to select from a set of options that then applied as dash numbers to the configurable material (My apologies, I am not certain how common this is across industries).
The current issue we are having is that our procurement teams complains that these options are often assigned last-minute by sales, sometimes as machines are on the assembly line. There is currently no forecast maintained as we build to a solid build plan set up 18 months in the future. To solve this erratic demand we have resorted to creating safety stock levels with the option to consume 100% by planning. This seems imperfect to me, as it must be maintained part-by-part and changes the organizational understanding of safety stock.
is there a way to show forecasted demand based on previous usage within SAP for these options?
Thank you for all of the help, and my apologies if this is a redundant question, I've done my best to search the forum.
