Hello All,
<b>I have a requirement where I need to convert a JAVA-WebDynpro based report to ABAP type(i.e thick client based)</b>
In a way its the reverse technology.
We have ITS technology where we convert ABAP Report / transaction to WIN-Gui format(look n feel).
I require the reverse way where I convert WebDynpro based report to ABAP based transaction and look n feel.
Hello Thomas,
Well I don't want to give Portal Access to all of my users.
I want to give a URL, clicking on which the users views a certain report.
In a way i want to achieve a thick client based system.
ABAP Dynpro is possible only in ECC 6.0 right?
Using Windows or JAVA Clients for WebDynpro, I can get a URL say
<b>http://itdep1:50000/webdynpro/dispatcher/local/PrvEmplr/PrvEmplradm_App</b>
I think this might be one of the the solution.
But in this case I will not get the standard portal facilities like iviews, worksets etc.

Correct - ABAP Web Dynpro is available with Netweaver04s and higher. ECC 6.0 or ERP2005 is the first release in the ERP line to run on Netweaver04s.
Yes the Windows or Java clients for Web Dynpro directly run a Web Dynpro Application via the URL. Of course you can run the URL standalone in the browser as well.
No if you don't use the portal, then you don't get the portal facilities like iViews, worksets, role based navigation, themes, portal eventing, etc.
What is the purpose of the moving this report to ABAP? Are you just wanting to run it within the SAPGui (this can be done using the HTML Control)? Do you want it to have the SAPGui look and feel redoing all the interaction in dynpro and controls? Are you just wanting to get closer to ABAP processing, but still run from the web - BSP or Web Dynpro ABAP might be options? Or are you looking for to get away from the browser all together - in which case the Windows or Java Clients for Web Dynpro might be your long term answer. Please supply some more details.
