Connecting to Oracle DB on Azure VM

Using Crystal reports 2016 on my windows 10 laptop i cant connect to our Oracle DB on an Azure VM. I keep getting error:

Logon failed.

Details: ADO Error Code: 0x80004005

Source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle

Description: Oracle client and networking components were not found. These components are supplied by Oracle Corporation and are part of the Oracle Version 7.3.3 or later client software installation.

After I installed Oracle 11g Express and still this error.

    you should install full Oracle client and make sure your tnsnames.ora points to Oracle DB correctly.
    test connectivity to that DB using oracle tools on your machine first only if that works use Crystal.
    You should follow up with your DBA on how to make connection work.

    Hi Jeffrey,

    That driver error is due to the dll you selected, it actually belongs to Microsoft and only supports Oracle 7 and installed with MDAC.

    When selecting the Provder use the updated one from Oracle.

    And check the documents, it's possible Oracle does not install the OLE DB Driver with their Express version.
