Hi,
I just did install the pdk add-in and the runtime.
I do not see, Portal Add-in when I click Tools-Add-in Manager in VS 2005. Neither do i see the menu "sap". I also do not see, some functions as publish or deploy, when i right click on the project.
The installation was execudeed without any error.
Can some one help?
Windows XP SP 2, EP 6.0 SP 16
Thank u
Erhan
Hi Yehuda,
thanks for your post.
But I do not see any items in the add-in manager.

Hi,
Some more info is needed:
1. Which version of VS 2005 you are using? (pro,standard..)
2. Did you have any problem ti install the Add-In?
3 Did you try to reinstall the Add-In?
4 Did you install the Add-In on your windows account?
5. Did you install the Visual Studio 2005 Web Application Projects? - http://msdn.microsoft.com/asp.net/reference/infrastructure/wap/
Thanks,
Yehuda
Hi Ofer,
when I start VS 2005 i do see under "Installed Products" in the splash window "SAP PDK for Microsoft .NET".
So this seems to be ok.
When I click on "new Project", i do see the SAP Portal Application Template too, and i can choose it.
The project seems to be created, but after that there is nothing that shows me that this is a sap portal application:
1. No Entry in the Add-In manager
2. No SAP Menu
3. No entrys in the context menu of the project, or the portal components.
When I look in Software (appwiz.cpl) i do see, that the Add-In has been installed and has a size of 6.67 MB. I wonder if this is right, because the "SAP Portal Add-in 2.0 for VS 2003" shows me a size of 19.01 MB.
Hi Erhan,
1. The installation process is long because the dynamic integration to MS msdn - it takes more then a minute.
For fast installation you can install the product without the help.
2. Can you find the file sapeppdk.addin at "\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\msenvshared\addins" folder?
Regards,
Yehuda
Hi Yehuda,
yes it is there. I have just copied the file to
\Documents and Settings\MyUser\Application Data\Microsoft\msenvshared\addins and it is listed.
When i check the add-in all missed functions are available.
Everything is fine now.
Maybe this is a bug in the installation process of the portal add-in.
Why is the addin installed under "AllUsers" ?
What when the VS Installation has been executed just for one User?
What do you think about this?
Thank you very much
Erhan
Hi Erhan,
Great...
Because there is no way to install the file for each user the installer use the shared location.
if VS05 is not installed for other user - the pdk will never load - and its not an issue.
BTW
You must to have Admin rights in order to install the PDK - see the installation guide.
Thanks,
Yehuda
Hmm,
do you mean that it is a precondition, that vs has been installed for all user?
I do have admin rights, otherwise i dont think i could have install at all.
Yehuda,
there is an other question concerning the Configuring portal side settings.
When I read "5.3 Configuring Portal-Side Settings" in the "Installation, Upgrade and Configuration Guide: Portal Development Kit for Microsoft .NET" there you can read about the iview "Portal Runtime for Microsoft.NET" This iview shoud be in System Administration --> Support --> Support Desk.
I do miss this iView in EP60 SP 16.
Do you have an idea why?
thanks
Erhan
Hi Erhan,
see PDK note - https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes/ep/~form/handler
or just do the following if you can't access the note:
"You need to unload the Portal Development Kit 2.5 for Microsoft.NET add-in in the Add-in Manager, restart Visual Studio, and load this add-in again, making sure that all checkboxes are selected."
Regards,
Yehuda
