Restrict users from selecting highest level of Region in Supplier Request and Registration

Hi Experts,

We have a requirement in SLP where we wanted users to select the lowest level of region (country). Currently with the system design if we use the Region file in the Supplier Request or Registration, users will be able to select a continent instead of a country, our requirement is to trigger an approval workflow for different countries (Segregated as Prohibited, Restricted, Blocked etc.,) based on the user/supplier answering a specific question which is linked to the region answer type. Although we mention to users and suppliers to select the country (lowest hierarchy), a lot of times suppliers still go for Continent selection instead of picking a country. This has brought a lot of issues and escalations internally that the approval workflow is not working properly delaying the supplier onboarding through SLP.

We have a KB0407876 which talks about this system limitation currently. I have created an improvement request Req ID: 302725 Improvement Request Details - Customer Influence (sap.com). Request you all to please vote for this in case if you feel this is a valid requirement and if any of you have faced similar issue, please let me know how you were able to restrict supplier or users from selecting a continent instead of a country.

Thanks,
Velu

Believe this is only possible with Commodity currently. One option you can try as a workaround is to set those top level codes to be approved by a dummy group/user that essentially stops the flow because nobody is expected to approve from that node.

You could even call it something like "Select a lower level Region/Department".
