Error km588 cannot close profit center due to linked wbs element, how do I fix this?

Hi, I need to close a profit center by limiting its date in KE54 and then save it, but I get the error "cannot close profit center due to linked wbs element". How am I supposed to fix this "the right way"? Just go to the wbs element in CJ20N and deallocating the wbs element from the profit center? The wbs element is no longer in use and neither is the profit center.
