Prompt sorting as specified in universe's LOV lost in Design Studio

Hi all,

we have specified a certain LOV with sorting for a dimension in a universe (UNX). In Design Studio we want to create a prompt that should be based on this dimension and use the sorting of the LOV.

In Design Studio, the initial prompt displays the correct sorting of the values as specified in the universe. As soon as we run the dashboard, the sorting is lost and an alphabetical sorting is displayed.

This is the same behaviour that Rashmi Hirematt described at the end of this discussion:

We are currently using Design Studio 16.2.2, IDT 4.1 and BIP 4.1 SP 8.

Does anybody know if this behaviour is a bug or by design or if there is a workaround we can use?

Thanks so much for your help in advance!

Where is the sorting lost when you run the dashboard? Can you share screen shots? What about sorting in Design Studio?

Hey Tammy,

I just realized, I accidentally didn't reply your comment directly.

Please view my answer below.

Plus: There is no further sorting in Design Studio possible for prompts that would force using the sort order from the LOV. Or do you know a way coincidentally?

Thank you and BR,

Hi Tammy,

when I create the prompt in the query specifications and accept the changes I applied to the query specifications, I'm asked to enter a prompt value and the correct sorting order is displayed:

As soon as I execute the dashboard locally or on the platform in my browser, I get this alphabetical value sorting (although I selected Prompt with LoV in the query specs):

On the surface, sorting universes may be an issue in the BI4x version - (guessing, honestly) - see

When I can I will try it on my BI4.2 system

Thanks for your support, Tammy. :-)

I will investigate this also further. I fear we have to open an incident in the future as well...

OK, on my BI4.2 SP3 1.6 SP4 - it seems to always sort the LOVs based on text; I see where you can get around it if your months are numeric - but otherwise it won't work.

Agnetha - my sandbox server is undergoing maintenance now - will try this when I can...
