Characteristic Based Planning in SAP IBP

Hello Experts,

I want to assess the suitability of SAP IBP- Supply& Response for Industries (Automobile/ Paper) which have configurable products and use Characteristics Based Planning.

Could you please share your views as to whether SAP IBP supports Characteristics Based Planning, especially in the area of Supply Planning? If yes, can you direct me to any documentation available on this topic.
