SAP Trial - Choose your identity provider - Cannot access trial sap hana database instance

francescopicchi

Hello Everyone,

after registering a trial account, I tried to access SAP Hana instance.

I got an error during "Choose your identity provider" (screenshot 1), when selecting "Sign in with the default identity provider".

I put my P-User login informations (I haven't got any S-User login information after trial activation), but I always get this error "Sorry, we could not authenticate you. Try again." (screenshot 2)

Could help me understand where could be the problem or which login information is expected?

Please note I already tried the following solutions:

1) changing the password

2) using email + password couple

3) using p-user + password couple

Thanks in advance

Regards

Francesco

An interesting thing that I'm realizing is that none o the three role collections below appear for me to select them in the Assign Role Collection menu.

SAP HANA Cloud Instance Administrator

SAP HANA Cloud Instance Security Administrator

SAP HANA Cloud Viewer

Hi francescopicchi,

When you open the Hana Cloud Central App (the link entitled Manage SAP Hana Cloud on the BTP Cockpit) you are presented with the IdP screen. So, the following items must be true:

1) The IdP configured on your Sub-Account level must have your user id. Make sure you don't have any additional IdPs setup on that sub-account. If it does have it, make sure the default IdP does have your ID on its persistency database. It might be that your subaccount it trying to log you with the default IdP not being SAP's SAP ID Service (which is the one containing your P-User). Check also that the default IdP is available for user logon.

2) Your user id must have the following role collections assigned:

https://help.sap.com/docs/HANA_CLOUD/9ae9104a46f74a6583ce5182e7fb20cb/1b55f1c01e944e6c813b9a8d7de0aa...

Sometimes, the user id you are trying to use doesn't have a shadow user created on BTP (that would be the case when you logged in BTP using a different account than the one you are trying to use to login to Hana Cloud).

3) Your have the correct user id and password to log in.

4) The Hana Cloud Database must the status "started" (all green lights) on the Hana Cloud Central App.

Also, if you are able to open the Hana Cloud Central App, make sure that the database is also started. Trial database tend to be stopped every day and will be removed from BTP if they get inactive for quite some time (can't remember for how long) and/or your database trial period has expired.

I suggest checking the first two things as you are clearly able to log into BTP for starters.

Best regards,
Ivan

  1. In SAP BTP cockpit, navigate to the subaccount where you want to create the subscription to the SAP HANA Cloud multi-environment administration tools.
  2. Create a subscription to the SAP HANA Cloud multi-environment administration tools:
    1. In the left pane of the subaccount, click Instances and Subscription.
    2. Click Create.
    3. Under Service, pick SAP HANA Cloud.
    4. Under Plan, pick Tools.
    5. Click Create to create the instance.
  3. Configure an SAP HANA Cloud Administrator user:
    1. In the left pane of the subaccount, click Users.
    2. Find your name in the list of users (it is possible your name is the only name).
    3. In the far right pane, click Assign Role Collection.
    4. In the dialog, select SAP HANA Cloud Administrator.
    5. Click Assign Role Collection to complete the role assignment.
  4. Open the SAP HANA Cloud multi-environment administration tools:
    1. In the left pane of the subaccount, click Instances and Subscriptions.
    2. Find the SAP HANA Cloud tools plan in the Applications table, and click the Go to Application button.

      SAP HANA Cloud Central opens.

Hay. I'm sure you must have fixed this issue .

resolution : Go to your subaccount , create a new subscription , Choose "SAP HANA Cloud" and plan : "Tools" .

once this is done , do to your role collections and assign the ( newly available ) roles to your user.

there is absolutely nothing to be done with identity provider or your user .

Hi Ivan Mirisola,

thanks for your answers.

Please read below about my trial:

When you open the Hana Cloud Central App (the link entitled Manage SAP Hana Cloud on the BTP Cockpit) you are presented with the IdP screen. So, the following items must be true:

I cannot access Hana Cloud Central App, i got this error just trying to access this area

1) The IdP configured on your Sub-Account level must have your user id.

Seems OK - Screenshot 1+3

Make sure you don't have any additional IdPs setup on that sub-account.

OK - Screenshot 1

If it does have it, make sure the default IdP does have your ID on its persistency database.

Maybe? - Screenshot 3

It might be that your subaccount it trying to log you with the default IdP not being SAP's SAP ID Service (which is the one containing your P-User). Check also that the default IdP is available for user logon.

OK - Screenshot 2

2) Your user id must have the following role collections assigned:

https://help.sap.com/docs/HANA_CLOUD/9ae9104a46f74a6583ce5182e7fb20cb/1b55f1c01e944e6c813b9a8d7de0aa...

I have all possibles role collection assigne - Screenshot 4+5

It seems there are no such roles in my subaccount, but probably you refer to SAP Hana Cloud interface I cannot access, so it is normal - Screenshot 6

Sometimes, the user id you are trying to use doesn't have a shadow user created on BTP (that would be the case when you logged in BTP using a different account than the one you are trying to use to login to Hana Cloud).

I tried both with and without the "Create Shadow Option During Logon" option - Screenshot 2

3) Your have the correct user id and password to log in.

Yes, it the same i use to login in trial area (I have a single user and password, and i changed it one time to be sure there was no "shadow" password)

4) The Hana Cloud Database must the status "started" (all green lights) on the Hana Cloud Central App.

Cannot access yet Hana Cloud Central App, as the login problem happens before to enter this area

Thanks for your support.

Francesco
