Installation of Modules for Functional Role Training

Former Member

Hi,

I am from system admin background who wants to learn about Functional modules (i.e. FICO, PP, MM, and SD) and ABAP.

I managed to install the Basis 4.6B in Linux. I notice that what I didn't have the modules. Could someone point out how to get an eval to learn the modules?

Thank you.

Hi Lito

SAP modules in 4.6B came under SAP_APPL component.

Can check SPAM transaction to check the SAP components available in the system.

Moreover can try running some basic transacions as MB03,VA03,FB03 etc.

I would suggest you to install an IDES system for specific release and work on it

Hi Ravinder,

I spotted the IDES for 4.6B in SAP Shop. I was wondering if the demo linux basis 4.6B is the only need for the IDES 4.6B. I was thinking of purchasing it, but don't know if there's anything else I need. I heard from SAP forum somewhere else that I just need to install IDES on top of the basis and it should automagically gives all the business application, but information from SDN SAP is more authoritative.

By the way, thank you for your reply. I have tried running VA02, MM01, F-28 for example and there's no such transaction in the basis. It looks like there is no business application at all. I'll give a try on the SPAM transaction.

Hi Lito,

The same probelm with me too, I have installed mini SAP it is only for ABAP Stuff not for running business applications. Get SAP IDES and install it on Windows 2000 I am damm sure that u will be succesfull. I am not sure if it will be sucessfull in Linux.

Just try ur luck.

Hi

Please check www.service.sap.com/swcat

for software catalog

Found SAP IDES > SAP R/3-R/3 Enterprise-ERP > SAP R/3 IDES > SAP R/3 4.6C SR2 IDES (SP 28)

So latest version is R/3 4.6C

Morover all versions listed is for platforms other than Linux

I do not think that you can use the standard IDES 4.6C kit to install on Linux platform.
