Hello,
I am trying to copy/duplicate/export a whole group where I have many book pages where objects have placeholders with a connection to Text Units. This group will be used as a template to many other groups, so I thought it would be easier to change Text Units rather than every book page object.
But even though every time inside the new (copied) group Text Units have completely new UID - placeholders still keep the html source of the old Text Units.
Is there a way to copy this group, so that placeholders will automatically get connections to new Text Units?
Hi Justyna,
Sorry, not aware of any way to do this. In general, the current behaviour is the correct one because typically you want to reference a standard piece of text that is not changed for each new Book Page, e.g. a statement about the IP of the content. If this statement is to change, you want to be able to change it in the one spot and then have that change reflected throughout all your content.
Regards
Shane

If you insert a Text object (or any other object that can hold text) onto your Book Page Template, and then insert a Placeholder referencing the separate Text Unit into that, it will work the way you want. The Text Units should be outside of the Group, otherwise as you note, every time you use the Group as a Template, it will create new Text Units.
If you're saying you want your Template Group (1) to contain Book Page (1) that links to Text Unit (1), and when you use this Group as a Template it automagically creates Group (2) that contains Book Page (2) that links to a new Text Unit (2) then no, that won't work.
