If the server isn't in a domain, how to config "icm/host_name_full"?

If the server isn't in a domain, how to config the parameter of "icm/host_name_full"?

I installed an XI system, but the BSP page can't be accessed due to this reason. If I give the value of host name to full domain name, it doesn't work.

How should I do?

    Ma,

    the host don't has to be really in a domain. it works. if you make an entry in the hosts-file (/etc or %WINDIR/system32/drivers/etc) of the accessing computer, e.g.

    host.mydomain.com

    then, each computer, that has this entry, can address "host.mydomain.com"

    (of course, it would be better, to have a dynamic name resolution like DNS. but it's a workaround)

    Hi

    open the hosts file from c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc

    make the following entry on server and each client.

    ip_address of XI host-------> XI_host.domain.com

    i.e

    192.168.0.10------>XI_host.domain.com

    if u use DNS server for domain name resolution than make this entry at DNS server.

    using RZ10 add new parameter with following value

    icm/host_name_full---->XI_host.domain.com

    save ur entry and restart the XI system.

    regards,

    kaushal

    If the server is not in a domain,and say the hostname of the server is xyz,then icm/host_name_full must be set as xyz.xyz.com

    Dear Ma,

    there is no need to set this at all. The full qualified hostname will only be needed if the server is to be seen from the 'outside' under its full qualified name. If you are running a system in your intranet and the server can be reached under its name, there is no need to set this.

    Regards,

    Tim
